Do you prefer contact lenses or glasses and why?

There are some significant pros for both eyeglasses and contact lenses. Let me touch on a few that I value as important.
Eyeglasses
First and foremost, one of the biggest advantages of wearing eyeglasses is that you do not have to touch your eyes. When I first started wearing contacts my eyes were often uncomfortable because of the constant irritation of putting the lens in my eye. Another pro to eyeglasses is price. Eyeglasses are generally cheaper than contact lenses and unless you break your eyeglasses, they will last longer. In addition, if your prescription changes, you can keep the same frame! Contact lenses on the other hand would require a whole new set. Another advantage in my opinion is the size of eyeglasses. I cannot tell you how many times I went to adjust my contact lens and they proceeded to fall out of my eye. Not only is it merely impossible to see the clear .25 inch lens, try finding it with blurry vision! If you happen to drop your eyeglasses, you will clearly see at least the silhouette of where they landed. Eyeglasses are also a fashion statement, if you like the way you feel wearing them, continue to do so! And finally, eyeglasses also provide UV protection and shield your eyes from any dust, pollen, etc that might be floating around in the air.
Contact Lens
Contact lenses are discrete and conform to the curvature of your eyes. Contact lens complete coverage of the eye is beneficial because it reduces visual distortion. On the contrary, since glasses are primarily about a half inch away from your eyes, visual distortion can occur. From my experience, one of the major benefits of contact lenses is that they do not get in the way of everyday activities, especially sports. I play Ice Hockey, contact lenses give me the freedom to play without worrying about my vision. In addition, unlike glasses, contact lenses do not fog up; huge perk vs glasses! Some of the drawbacks of contact lenses are they you must religiously clean them. Without proper cleaning, contact lenses can result in serious eye infections and discomfort. If you accidently fall asleep with contacts in, your eyes will dry up and be very irritated in the morning. Thankfully, there are some contact lenses that are designed to be worn over night, but this issue still exists as every contact lens reduces the amount of oxygen reaching your eye.
Summary
If I had to choose between eyeglasses or contact lenses, I believe I would stick with eyeglasses. This does not mean that eyeglasses are the right choice because it is all based off personal preference. My bias arises because I have worn eyeglasses since I was very young and I am comfortable with how they make me feel. In addition, eyeglasses do not have to be cared for as heavily as contact lenses. After a long day of work the last thing I want to do is clean my contact lenses. All in all, there are perks and cons for both eyeglasses and contact lenses. I suggest reaching out to relatives or your optician to get their $0.02 on this dilemma. Follow my blog for eyewear related material

Wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses totally depend upon your personal preferences. Weather you wear eyeglasses or contact lenses the purposes of both is a vision correction. Factors that will make decision process for your eyewear or contacts includes your lifestyle, comfort, convenience, budget and aesthetics.
Before making decision to buy eyeglasses or contact lenses, keep in mind that both have pros and cons in term of vision.
Eyeglasses has many benefits than contact lenses, you don't have to touch your eyes to wear spectacles, they are cheaper than contact lenses, they are more stylish and comfortable. Eyeglasses require minimum maintenance and easy to carry. They reduce eyestrain and dry eyes.
Whereas, contact lenses also have their points. Contact lenses makes you look more younger, they fits to your eyes properly, with contact lenses you can easily play any outdoor games and activities, You can wear different types of colored contact lenses.
So which are better for you, choose according to your particular needs and lifestyle.

I strongly prefer glasses, though almost nobody believes me. Yes, glasses have 'pain-in-the-rump' features. So do contacts. Also, I've been wearing glasses and gotten used to their 'pains-in-the-rump' for more than half their life, while the annoyances of contacts are new and intrusive to me.
A non-exhaustive list of reasons I prefer glasses to contacts:
People who prefer contacts, however, constantly try to talk me into getting contacts.
A non-exhaustive list of reasons I prefer glasses to contacts:
- I like what my frames do to the shape of my face. I don't like my face as much bare as I do with glasses on it, just aesthetically.
- They seem less fragile to me -- I can knock them to the floor and they're fine, whereas if a contacts-receptacle spills, they're gone.
- They cost a lot of money for the pair, but that's the same pair I then wear for two years, instead of having to buy and buy and buy and rebuy more sets of contacts (which get easily trashed, so that even if I'm meant to wear them a week at a time they might last far less than that).
- If I start to fall asleep for the night with my glasses still on, the pressure of the frames on my face reminds me to take them off.
- I can't wash them down the sink accidentally when I'm tired and not functioning well in the morning.
- If I cut onions (or do something dusty) wearing them I can wash my face with dish soap and get rid of the chemical crying-urge; with contacts in I have to stop cooking entirely and go spend ten minutes salvaging my contacts, washing my eyes, still crying ... etc.
- I don't have to pull my eyelids up and flinch six times trying to touch my eyeball to put my glasses on (I find this part of contacts-wearing DEEPLY unpleasant, even after six weeks of daily practice. *shudder* My eyeballs really Do Not Like to be touched)
People who prefer contacts, however, constantly try to talk me into getting contacts.

There are both Pros and Cons of each, that is why I wrote this recently.
“I can finally, fully, experience the world” – Customer, 47 years old.
“100% worth it. There are no more frame limitations!” – Young art designer, 23 years old.
“Prior to contact lenses, I couldn’t experience such peripheral vision” – Revealed the majority in our survey.
You see, nowadays, you can find many opinions online, regarding the pros and cons of using contact lenses as well as switching from spectacles to contacts, often one contradicts the other.
We bet you have a few unanswered thoughts!
And that’s a good thing. After all, it’s based on information that we make a choice of what to purchase or not.
So, let’s dive in.
Pros:
- Contact lenses = Peripheral vision = Excellent field of vision. Because contact lenses sit directly on your eye, you get complete vision without limitations.
- With glasses, you are restricted to the size of your lenses
- Sunglasses on top of glasses simply doesn't work. Now, you can wear any sunglasses you want. Who doesn’t love that!
- Ladies, yes it’s true, no more marks on your nose. Your makeup is now safe
- Spectacle lenses tend to be thicker at the sides, for people with higher dioptrics
- No more foggy or sweaty lenses. You can now enjoy more physically, intense, activities
- With extended wear contacts, you can even wear them 24/7
Cons:
- Not everyone can wear contact lenses. Plus, it can take some time to getting used to them
- For some people, they can be considered expensive
- Who needs another chore! Putting them on every morning and taking them out every evening can be one
- It’s not a big deal if you take a short nap, but forgetting to take out your lenses, can cause real problems
- Dust is one of the biggest enemies of contacts. Your eyes can become pretty irritated. It’s recommended to keep some soothing eye drops handy
- Depending on external factors, such as hot & dry weather, or sitting in an air conditioned room, eyes might become quite dry, which can get uncomfortable

Glasses. I mean eyeglasses are way more easy to handle. You do not need to worry about getting out of your bed and remove lenses, Securing them again in the lens case and all of it before sleeping. Who wants to leave the bed when they are all tired and cozy.
No doubt it is too irksome with glasses when you want to shift on one side of the pillow/bed but you just cannot because that bloody chuckhole temple/ Arm of the spects displaces the whole position of the glasses. Now do not say why to turn the other side while wearing glasses. See, Imagine you are watching a movie on your mobile but then you feel like stretching and shifting to the otherside and then this temple shifting occurs !
Image source and stuff. Yeah, Ofcourse google uncle.
Generally, What I have observed people use lenses for Aesthetics. It is okay to wear sometimes but on a regular basis lenses for me is pain in the ass when it comes to it’s handling and care.
Anyway, Preference goes to glasses not lenses. I can bear Irritation by glasses but not eye destruction by diseases caused by lenses.

Glasses were obviously the best choice before contact lenses came into being.
But there is one big advantage of contact lenses. They tend to improve your vision as compared to what you see through glasses.
Yes, you need to take special care of your lenses. You need to be answerable to time. You need proper planning of your activities in order to insert n remove them patiently. But they do help a great deal.
So you definitely cannot question as to which one is a better option because each of these is useful on different occasions.
Hence, you need to keep both of them with you.
Incase your question was because you were planning to purchase a pair of lenses, I suggest that you do a trial session first. Wear it for some hours and then decide whether you can be accustomed to it or not.

"Better" is entirely subjective. Contact lenses have an entirely different set of pros and cons to eyeglasses, and the situation will be different for each person and their lifestyle, prescription, and eye health.
For example, I have a condition called anisometropia, which means that my eyes are quite far apart in prescription. Thus, I have trouble getting them to focus together as well in eyeglasses as I do in contacts, so I get better vision in contacts. For many people, however, the vision will be sharper with glasses.
I also have astigmatism, which makes my contacts a more difficult fit and much more expensive. On top of that, I have allergies, so I wear the sort of contacts you wear for just one day before discard- which is ALSO a lot more expensive. To counterbalance that, I wear my glasses about half the time and contacts half the time.
In addition, I make a living by cooking- glasses are not great in the food industry. They fog up, get scratched, get greasy/residue covered, slide down the nose when you sweat.
Keep in mind as well that every contact lens wearer should have a pair of glasses too, for breaks or emergencies. Contacts also tend to be more expensive per year, require you to have more frequent eye exams, and require you to be diligent about how the contacts are stored, inserted, and cleaned to keep your eye health up.
It is difficult to say what would be best for each person without a doctor's evaluation.

Well i prefer glasses more than lenses according to my comfort but There are some pros and cons for the both eye glasses and lenses depending upon what you choose to wear according to your comfort and style.
Here are some of the advantages of choosing contact lenses to wear :
Contacts typically aren't affected by weather conditions and won't fog up in cold weather conditions like glasses.
Contact lenses don't get in the way when playing sports or doing other activities like exercising etc.
Contacts give you a wide variety of different kinds of colored lenses to wear and style according to your needs.
Here are some of the Disadvantages of choosing contact lenses to wear :
Some people have trouble applying a contact lens to their eye (but proper technique and practice should rectify this in most cases).
If you work at a computer often, wearing contact lenses will likely contribute to symptoms of computer vision syndrome.
Contacts require proper lens care and lens case cleaning each day, to avoid potentially serious eye infections.
Advantages of choosing glasses to wear :
Eyeglasses generally are cheaper than contact lenses over the long term. You don't need to replace glasses as often (unless you break them) and if your prescription changes over time, you may be able to keep your current frames and just replace the lenses.
Frames are fashionable and can speak volumes about your personality and style.
Glasses offer some protection from environmental factors such as wind, dust etc.
Disadvantages of choosing glasses to wear :
Some people don't like how they look in glasses and feel it detracts from their facial aesthetics or hides their features.
Some frames can exert constant pressure on your nose and behind your ears, leading to headaches and general discomfort.
If you have a strong prescription, the edges of your lenses may be thick and unappealing or your glasses might make your eyes appear unnaturally minified or magnified.
your vision can be obstructed or blurred by precipitation collecting on your lenses or when they fog up in cold weather.
So depending upon the above factor differences. i feel glasses are more preferable than lenses because as i find it more easy to maintain plus its cheap and much more reliable when compared to lenses. i hope the above information will help you to choose the right choice according to your needs.

It depends
Comfort
Wearing contact lenses for a long time will press your nose and cause your glass frame out of shape. Your glasses will get foggy from cold outside to warm inside. That is the advantage of the contact lenses.
View
View of glasses will influenced by glasses frame and lenses which cause view gets smaller. However when you wear contact lenses, you won’t be blocked by any stuff and lenses will rotate with your eyeball.
Convenience
Glasses will slip off from your nose while contact lenses is more convenient to bring along.
Aesthetic
Glasses will make your bridge of nose collapse and your eyeballs stand out. While contact lenses will make your face elegant and easier for eye contact.
Health
Glasses won’t contact your eyeballs directly which is healthier and cleaner than contact lenses and you can wear for a long time. However, you should be careful with contact lenses and need cleaning and sanitizing everyday and not wear over 8 hours. You cannot wear when sleeping.
Hope it helps!

Contact lenses are medical devices, only medical institutions can sell. Wearing contact lenses would be more convenient, especially for high myopia, anisometropia, keratoconus, which are not suitable for people wearing eyeglasses.
But contact lenses are implantable medical devices so there is a certain risk. It is very important to take care of them.
Improper care of contact lenses can cause the growth of bacteria, bring eye disease after wearing even lead to surgery.
As contact lenses are adsorbed on the surface of the corneal (tear film). Each time we blink, a protective coating of tears is spread like a film over the front of our eye, so that dry spots won`t develop on the surface of the eye. Contact lenses played a barrier, long-term contact lens wear can lead to alterations in corneal thickness and hypoxia.
Eyeglasses won`t cause those implanted hurt. If you choose a suitable size of frame to modify your face shape, It could make you look better.
generally choose a lightweight pair, it will be more comfortable.

That’s great that you’re thinking of using contacts! The main pro of wearing contact lenses is pretty obvious. They allow you to have great vision without the need to wear glasses. This is perfect for sports activities where glasses can slide around or even fall off. They’re also great from someone who doesn’t have prescription sunglasses. Just put on your contacts and you will be able to see through any regular pair of sunglasses. For some people, particularly the very nearsighted, contact lenses can give even better vision than glasses. For most however, this is not the case. There are a few cons as well. First, for most lens wearers, the lens needs to be inserted and removed on a daily basis. This can take some time especially for new wearers. Second, the eyes tend to dry out more with contacts. If your lens isn’t comfortable, it can definitely be annoying to wear. Lastly, most lenses aren’t made for sleeping in. So be careful. As far as safety goes, if they are fit by a professional, and you follow the care instructions, contact lenses are quite safe. Even with proper, there is always a chance of infection. It is a piece of rubberized pastic after all that’s sitting on the eye. This risk only goes up if you don’t take care of the lenses and/or yourself. Hope this helps!

This can be a personal preference, but there are a lot of scaremongering things written about contact lenses.
I have dealt with my lenses on boats in heavy seas, in aeroplane toilets, on a scary night train between Moscow and Leningrad a long time ago and in various camping and countryside situations.
Like everything , living with contact lenses is a skill you learn and the pay-offs, not having to wear glasses and better vision are not to be underestimated.
Try out the various different kinds of lenses. The default assumption seems to be disposable soft lenses of various kinds these days. Try non disposable soft lenses and also, my lens of choice, rigid gas permeable (RGP).

Neither glasses or contact lenses are healthy and therefor neither are good.
Eyes all can see well.
Non-uniform light from tv and cell phones and LCD screens cause the lens of the eye to be bent by muscles and focus on slightly different distances even though the tv is the same distance away from the eye.
This is called accomodation. When the eyes continuously accomodate while watchin tv or the computer, they bend the lens of the eye outward from the body. This bending of the lens to the front of the body makes it harder to relax the lens to focus on far away objects.
Keep thinking and find your own answers on how to relax and reshape the lenses naturally. You will need to change the way you use computers and screens.
Nook and Kindle (black and white) are different technology that don’t cause these problems.
In the old days, non-uniform lighting was from candles making people believe that smart people needed glasses. Smart people don’t need glasses. Just read in the daytime or with a steady light. Books in steady light are not a problem for eyesight.
Glasses and contacts are like saying you are a loser. Do you want to be a loser or do you want to be normal. You are still normal don’t wear a stupid looking shirt and don’t wear glasses.

Originally Answered: Why are contact lenses better than glasses?
I have both contact lenses and glasses and most of the time I prefer contacts. Why? Contacts don't fog up when you open the oven door or the dishwasher. They don't get covered in rain. They don't scratch, although they can tear. But it is far cheaper to replace a torn contact lens than a scratched glasses lens. Also, they don't have frames that can break or lose screws. They don't come in and out of style. You won't look back at yourself in 30-year-old pictures and cringe because of the hideous glasses you were wearing (anyone that wore glasses in the 1980s knows this feeling). If you accidentally take a baseball to the face, your face won't get cut by the broken frames and lenses (yes, that was me). Contacts don't get in the way when that special someone wants to look you in the eyes….and you can actually see him or her. Contacts don't give you a sore nose or ears. Contacts don't slide around when your face is sweaty. You can get contact lenses that are safe to sleep in, which means you can see when you first wake up and don't have to feel around for your glasses. Sunglasses are not a major expense. And usually, contact lenses are much cheaper than glasses.
Are there disadvantages? Of course. A slightly more expensive initial exam. There's also a period of getting used to them. You have to get comfortable touching your eyes. And sometimes they can get a bit lost in your eye. They always reappear, but that freaks some people out. And of course you can tear or lose one, but they are relatively inexpensive now. If you have a lot of astigmatism, your vision may not be quite as crisp as with glasses. You will still need a pair of glasses as a backup for when you are sick or your eyes are tired. But the biggest disadvantage is the increased risk of infections and corneal ulcers, though that can be minimized with proper care. I've had four ulcers, but the most recent was more than 20 years ago. I now use daily disposables. No cleaning, no hassle, no problems.

You need both if you use contacts! Try to use your contacts for 8 hours max/day and avoid them 1day/week to have your cornea breath.
1-You’ll avoid potentiel Keratites (inflammation of your cornea that can sometimes lead to blindness)
2-You’ll be able to wear contacts for many years, otherwise after about 10 years of wearing them you might become intolerant to contacts!

Glasses are better in all aspect. Here are some reasons:
- No direct contact to your eyes makes it irritation free (Ask anyone who wear contact lenses)
- Eye rub is a disaster while wearing contact lenses (Red Bloodly Eyes)
- Eye Dryness is not a problem while wearing glasses
- Comparatively you have to take little less care of glasses
- Glasses can enhance you look and it is without doubt fashionable.
- Though your eyes look natural but, it never feel natural while wearing contact lenses

For some people, contact lenses are too much of a hassle, require cleaning, taking out and putting into the eyes on a daily basis, and may also make the eye dryer. Low myopes who are above 40 can take their glasses off to read any time, but you can't do that with contact lenses. There is a small risk of corneal infections especially if instructions are not followed.
For others, glasses are a nuisance because sweat and other droplets can get on the lenses, and they fog up with hot drinks/going into a warmer place from somewhere colder. And for high ametropes, with glasses there is some distortion and the spectacle lens edge beyond which everything is a blur.
In general, the quality of vision for people with high spectacle powers is better with contact lenses than glasses.

Optically, the contact lens (rigid) is the best correction to wear. It corrects almost any kind of vision that spectacles do, and they don't have the problem of "vertex" distance or field of view restriction ("ring effect"). A correction that is as close to the "nodal" point of the eye means that it will have the least magnification or minification problem (common in lenses).
Medically, though, some people cannot comfortably wear a rigid contact lens but can wear a soft silicon or hydrogel lens. It satisfies the vertex distance issue but not necessarily the prescription part since soft lenses are not generally customized.

There is a common misunderstanding about contact lenses. They are not and can never fully substitute eyeglasses.
You can own and use eyeglasses without having contact lenses, but you cannot use contact lenses without owning and using eyeglasses.
Contact lenses can only be worn for about 12 hours per day before discomfort starts. Even less wearing time, if you are dehydrated by coffee, alcohol or physical movement. The rest of your time awake will require you to wear eyeglasses. That is if you want to use your eyes to see during those hours.
The main reason contact lenses were invented is because people didn’t like the way they looked wearing eyeglasses. It is fashion and style in sacrifice of health and comfort. Like high heels and corsets.

The answer totally depends on your personal prefernce.
Those opting for lenses are those who have some issues with glasses due to sports they play, or high powers reducing the width of visual field, or having better eyesight with lenses.
There are some who are afraid to learn how to put the lens on the surface of the eye- they find it difficult, hence prefer glasses. Some have used lenses over long hours esp computer use and experience dry eyes and foreign body sensation and allergies. These then either revert to using glasses or undergo LASIK.

Before deciding between contacts and glasses, keep in mind that one is not necessarily better than the other. Each has its pros and cons in terms of vision, ease of use and eye health. According to my view lens are more comfortable I am personally used natural colored contact lenses. Contact lenses offer many benefits over Eyeglasses.
Following are the benefits of a lens over glasses:
1. No weight and resulting discomfort. No frame constantly slipping down your nose.
2. Contacts don't fog up
3. Contacts match everything you wear.
4. Contact lenses won't collect precipitation and blur your vision.
5. right on the eye, for more natural vision.

A2A. It depends on you. If you find glasses ugly or irritating or altogether a problem, the contacts are better. However glasses are easier to handle and look good on some people. Some people have a bunch of glasses for them and change them regularly to match their clothes. Some people need glasses only when they do a particular activity and thus they can avoid contact.

I prefer glasses for they are providing perfect sight per eye and help me keep both eyes in equal quality when viewing in the distance, i wear my sunglasses in whe outdoors in summer, and when the sun is close to the horizon in autumn and spring, wear my reading glasses when i read for longer periods and wear my headband loupe when doing mechanical manual work.
Use a stereo-micrsocope to inspect the eyes of my patients and when inspecting the contactlenses and glasses I prescribe and manufacture and reshape.
As I have a very light prescription as I train my eyes on a daily basis, I can do a lot of things without optical assistance. Contactlenses are a great optical product for people with lower precriptions while partaking in sports and are the best optical aid for higher prescriptions because they provide a sharp image without distortion in size or hight or depth and the move with the eyes so the image stays the same while looking around. Glasses or spectacles can not do that.
Ski goggles and windshields or icehockey safetyshields can have a wide field. The professional divingmasks are becoming more and more wideangle

I prefer contact lenses. I use a single contact in my left eye, since my distance vision is near perfect, i just need a help with my near vision.
I’ve only been wearing them for about two weeks honestly, and i dread the process of putting them in. But as far as practicality goes, it beats glasses. I don’t have to worry about losing them (I use dailies), and I don’t have to deal with the frequent pimples I get on the bridge of my nose from wearing glasses (which seem to happen even if I am religious about cleaning them).
So for me, at least for now, contact lenses it is. I take a break from them on weekends, since I don’t need them, and can do with glasses for a few hours at home. But on the go, there is no comparison.

I prefer the hyper clarity of contacts lenses specifically RGP lenses! I have corneal astigmatism and rgp lenses correct this issue amazing!!!! However, I do like the comfort of eyeglasses due to dry eyes!. I like wearing colored contacts, but not often as they don't come in multifocal correction. Sterlig Gray, gemstone green and honey brown are the tints I wear for fun. And for eyeglasses I have 4 pairs in different styles for fun and fashion! I know, I spend a fortune on eye wear.
*rgp multifocal-i wear these most of the time
**One day multifocal-gym and sports
***Colored soft lenses-green, gray-blue and warm brown for fun
**** 4 pairs progressive eyeglasses-fashion, rest from contacts, during work.
I can't see worth beans 3cm away so I rely on my eye wear everyday.

Glasses. I think its easier to handle as compared to lenses (mainly hygiene wise). I feel like Glasses act as an addition to your personality and make a great fashion statement.
That being said, contact lenses have many pros over glasses too. Contacts sit directly on your eye, so vision is usually unobstructed. I use contact lenses while playing sports, gym, and doing outdoor activities without fear of eyeglasses getting in the way, falling off or breaking.
I prefer wearing contact lenses for several reasons.
- So much more convenent while doing sport
- Neither rain nor snow streaks them
- Glasses may steam when you moved from cold to warm place (winter!)
However, I do wear glasses quite often. Contacts are not good when you have dry eyes and that happens to me sometimes.
I tried contact lenses years ago. Unfortunately, one of my eyes is very nearsighted, and as soon as I blinked the “soft” lenses flexed; everything blurred. For the next six months I tried to adjust to “hard” lenses made of rigid plastic. I failed - they were always uncomfortable, and the last straw was scratching my eye while putting a lens in. The pain was awful.
Glasses for me, thank you. I can see, and they don’t hurt.

I'd love to be able to go without my contact lenses. They're expensive, and a nuisance to look after. Unfortunately, I have no choice.

Its weird; I used to love wearing glasses. In fact I was excited when I got them at age 8 (wow! The ability to see through corrective lenses that others don't have!)
However, once I turned 12 I HATED them. I felt like they looked terrible on me, I felt self conscious and frustrated that my vision blurred whenever i took them off. my parents FINALLY got me contacts and I love them!
I strongly prefer contacts, and I looks so good without glasses that even if it weren't for contacts glasses are eliminated from my look. Even when I can't or don't wear contacts, I have my glasses off unless I actually NEED them, or if I feel like seeing more clearly.
I see no point in whereing glasses all the time, I love contacts and the theory that we "need glasses to see" is incorrect, fortunately. I don't like glasses, and I even have a motto for whenever I can't wear contacts: No contacts, no glasses!

This totally depends on your comfort, care and hygeine. Glasses and contact lenses both of them have their own pros and cons. We can’t judge which is better. These are the different ways through which you attain your best vision.
Go through the above link and decide which is best for you.

Contacts make it so much easier to do sport or any vigourous activity basically. For example, when I used to go to theme parks, it was alot of hassle taking off my glasses and putting them in my bag to get on a roller coaster and once the ride finished, I would have to quickly find them again in order to see the photo of myself on the ride. Very stressful stuff. Contacts really are great for this reason because you can be like a normal person and not have to put a plastic contraption on your face as soon as you are off the ride. Also, why would you go on a ride if you are not able to see the view or where you’re going because you removed your glasses for fear them falling off!!!! I hated that! Roller coasters are much less thrilling when all you see is a fuzzy moving blur.
Another instance contacts are great is during the summer and you havent bought pescription sunglasses. If you’re wearing contacts you can just buy any nice pair of sunnies. I personally think the perscription sunglasses frame options available to meare hideous.
Contact lenses give you freedom! Unless of course you want to swim or scuba dive. In that case it’s worth getting some perscription goggles.

As long as you don't often switch from one to the other, I'd say it's a matter of personal preference. When you go back and forth your eyes have to constantly readjust from glasses to contacts and so forth, putting more strain on your eyes which affects your vision. This is only my opinion, of course, from my experience. I am not by any measure an expert.
Originally Answered: Which is better: glasses or contact lenses?
Well, there is more than just 1 answer, depending on your activities.
For example, contact lenses are great when you do sports, you have a wider view angle, etc..
You can buy a 6 month supply of lenses starting at 30 euro.
On the other hand, people consider glasses to be a cheaper alternative but that is not always true, because many tend to loose or forget them somewhere.

Eyeglasses and contact lenses have their own pros and cons. While some prefer to wear glasses on a regular basis, there are some who find contact lenses more comfortable. When wearing lenses, you can't rub your eyes, you can't sleep, and there is a lot of care needed to maintain hygiene in the eyes and of lenses. If you have the time to do proper care of your contacts, they can be a good option for you. And, if your budget is low, eyeglasses are better because you dont have to buy them again and again as they do not expire like contacts.

It is all a matter of personal preference. If your looking for comfort than glasses are the way to go, because with contacts they can get uncomfortable if your wear them too long or have dry eyes. Glasses might also give you better vision if you are either far or nearsighted with astigmatism, since toric lenses are only available in certain prescriptions. If your on a computer all day than it might be better to wear glasses because you won't blink often enough to properly lubricate the lenses and get oxygen to your corneas, making contacts uncomfortable at best. For purely vanity reasons contacts will be your best choice.

Contact lens any day!
I had glasses for about two years and then I switched to contact lens at the age of 15.Now am 18 I’d say with the atmost surety that contact lens are not painful, harmful or unmanagable.I remember surfing the internet for weeks before getting my contact lens and also the first time I tried inserting them ,I just couldnt stop blinking out of fear.(It took one hour to insert one inside my eye.Now it barely takes 30 seconds.)
Get the fear out of your head and go get contact lens.
They are much more comfortable than glasses. Also, you dont have to turn 90 degrees east or west to look at the world parallel to you ,you dont have to wash the frame 1001 times when the way is misty ,you dont have to sacrifice your vision for a good picture or vice versa once you get contact lens.
It doesnt come with a age criteria.Any person of any age can use contact lens.
Good luck !

Hi there,
Both have equal importance, but still it depends on your way of using. Glasses are perfect until you are not engaged in any sports activity. Glasses needs less cleaning than contact lenses. Eventually, it depends on your usage.

I recommend glasses to my clients because they can easily be removed and replaced when needed like for driving and they are less expensive.
Getting contact solution on the eyes and diminishing oxygen flow cannot be without detriment.
Contacts are nice because the eyes can look in more directions and see clearly, but overall I think that keeping glasses in a case in your pocket is the best.

I prefer contacts for a few reasons. I don't like the feeling of glasses on my face, I can actually see what I'm doing when styling my hair/putting on makeup without having glasses in the way, and I can see things using my peripheral vision.

For the vision contact lenses will give you a better eyesight since the Rx site directly on your lens. However the irritation is usually greater due to the same concept.
Glasses provide less irritation to the eye itself but also provides a decreased vision quality comapred to contacts.

Glasses and Contact Lenses have their benefits. It is highly dependent on what people are comfortable wearing. Most people feel that contact lenses are a lot more comfortable to wear and are lighter in weight. Most people are afraid to wear contact lenses as they feel that if not worn properly, then it could cause irritation in the eye. They prefer wearing their glasses.
There is a vast difference in the quality of vision for sure. There is also a difference of option. If one were to look it overall, contact lenses are a perfect wear.

I wear glasses exclusively and actually love wearing them! I have been a glasses wearer since the 9th grade which which means I have been wearing glasses for over 40 years, so I am very used to wearing them and feel very comfortable and confident with them on and like the way I look wearing glasses. I also like how I can change my appearance by just changing to a different pair of glasses and come away with a totally different look.
I have tried contacts in the past and didn't like them because they became very uncomfortable as the day wore on and they also don't correct my vision as well as my glasses do.

I personally prefer contact lenses and have been wearing them for the past 6 years without a problem.
They tend to be much better than glasses, I see everything around me much sharper and they are generally very easy to wear, so much that I barely feel them in my eyes.
I wear glasses only when I’m home because I just look awful with them and my vision is just better with lenses.
For the -9,5 myopia I have, lenses are a better choice during the day and glasses when I’m home.
Kay Dee, Well. I do wear clothes.
Glasses. Nothing is easier than picking them up and plopping them on your nose in the morning.
I’ve tried all kinds of contacts (none in the past ten years, though) from hard, to toric, to gas permeable. None of them cleared my vision for more than 8 hours.
I have severe astigmatism, which is been cited as the reason I can’t wear them for longer periods or attain truly clear vision.

Contact Lenses are are more comfortable and easier to wear than glasses or spectacles. Contact lenses give you complete freedom in movement and allow you to enjoy clear vision even during physical or sporting activity.
I used glasses and lenses, so I'm going to write about my experience.
When my vision became weak I studied at school, so my parents bought me glasses. I wore them until I ended school, and then I decided to try lenses. At firstl it was uncomfortable, my eyes felt constant discomfort and I even wanted to return towards glasses. But I like playing tennis and glasses interfere it, so I started to look for contact lenses, which I can wear. My searches ended on Fromer Eye Center. And now I can wear lenses, playing tennis and finally forget adout glasses.
So I wish all of you found YOUR lenses, don'be afraid - try more. And from myself I can advise New York City (NYC).

I mostly prefer glasses. And they are easy to handle with. Actually I am lazy person. Like I can fall asleep any time. Infact sometimes with glasses too. With lenses, I need to be very conscious all the time. I find it a bit scary in placing lenses and removing them.
Infact I wonder what if I have lenses on and I just forgot to remove. And go to sleep. Ohh I wonder alot.

So I wear glasses. To all of you that don’t, I’m so sorry you had to find out this way. It really…. really… breaks my heart.
Now onto the actual stuff. I’ve never worn contact lenses before but people tell me it’s uncomfortable. Like a plastic lens in your eye. Now, granted, that is what a contact lens is but I’d stick to glasses. Mostly because I look UGLY without my glasses.
Originally Answered: Which is better: glasses or contact lenses?
I really depends on what you are looking for and how your body reacts to each option. I would say that glasses are a safer bet when it comes to daily comfort but for some contact lenses are no more than a daily routine, kind of like brushing your teeth. I have worn both glasses and contacts over the last 12 years and I tend to side with contacts purely because I forget that i am even wearing them! If you are still on the fence check in with a company called Dualens. (an online retailer for all of your eye wear needs) They have a great selection of all the name brand contacts as well as a huge selection of eyewear and sunglasses for all of your eyewear needs at very affordable pricing!
Cheers!

I prefer wearing prescription glasses, simple because contact lenses are extremely delicate to use. And some times, contact lenses tend to irritate our eyes especially if you did not place it properly.
Nevertheless, prescription glasses makes you more comfortable than contact lenses.

Years ago I wore soft contact lenses for a few months. I was prescribed regular use of spectacles and then one day I decided that I would wear contacts so that I can get rid of ugly spectacles. I bought branded disposable lenses but soon found out that my eyes were feeling tired almost all the time… whether it was morning or evening. I tried ignoring the discomfort but after some time I just could not go through with them any more. So I promptly went back to wearing spectacles. What a relief!

In my opinion, lenses are good, but these are not for daily use. I am using lenses for any party, function etc. But normally I use wooden sunglasses.

I prefer wearing glasses instead of contact lenses because
1. I love my glasses
2. I can experiment with my look by changing glasses
3. I can find them easily (bigger in size than lenses)
4. easy to wear

i prefer glasses, personally. i've worn them since i was about 8, so i've become accustomed to them, to the point where it feels VERY strange to have wind blowing right into my eyes!
it's also less expensive for me to maintain a pair of glasses than to replace contacts regularly.

wouldn’t say so. yeah you can go with style , no problem .
but in th elong run , it may have some unwanted effects.
for example , your eyes might become dry with prolonged use , resulting in difficulty in blinking.
also , if you forget about your contacts and accidentally doze off with them in your eyes , it may lead to serious problems.
not to mention every time you have to splash some water in your eyes for refreshment you gotta take those contacts off , splash water , and put them back on.
hell lotta trouble if you ask me.
but if you think you can maintain them with vigilance , sure . up to you to do what you want.
but trust me , your eyes will become dry after prolonged use.

A main thing that people often don’t think about (this happened to me once) is that if you suffer from the condition called “dry eye”, you are not a good candidate for contact lenses.
